An electrical switch uses a chalcogenide glass or film or layer of vanadium oxide or combination of vanadium oxides and has electric current establishing means such as conductive elements N,M on opposed faces of a block of the material, or an electron beam for inducing an electric current in a local region of the material. A voltage applied to selected elements N,M, or an electron beam applied to a crossover point of elements N,M, causes a change in conductance of about 10<4> so that a current can flow. The change is said to occur at 56-70 DEG C. <IMAGE> |
