PURPOSE:To increase the storage stability of a material in a samarium-cobalt permanent magnet and to improve the magnetic characteristics of the magnet, by specifying the constituent composition of the material. CONSTITUTION:The constituent composition of the material comprises 20- 30wt% Sm, 0.2-7wt% Ti, 3-20wt% Cu, 2-30wt% Fe, 0.1wt% or less Ni, and the remainder Co. By using the material thus composed to form a permanent magnet, the magnetic characteristics of the magnet, such as a coercive force and the maximum energy product, can be improved. By adjusting the composition ratio of Ni to be 0.1wt% or less, in particular, the storage stability of the material can be increased. When the composition ratio of Ni exceeds 0.1wt%, the storage stability of the material decreases remarkably, and accordingly, the magnetic characteristics of the permanent magnet obtained also deteriorates considerably. |
