<p>- Veterinary Preparations for Ruminant Animals This invention provides veterinary preparations capable of being retained in the rumen of ruminants and providing the slow release of medicament within the rumen, said retention and release obviating the necessity of repeat dosing. The preparations each comprise a slow-release formulation consisting of a veterinary medicament in a solid or semi-solid matrix, the formulation being enclosed in a plastics envelope which is permeable to rumen fluids, capable of constraint to allow per os administration and capable of being retained in the rumen by movement from this constraint. Suitable medicaments include feed supplements, systemic insecticides, detergents, antibiotics and antiparasitics, and growth promotants.</p> |
