PURPOSE:To simplify a program and to speed up transfer, by allowing a host or subordinate computer to enter into a main memory image transfer sequence different from normal data transfer when a specific command is set. CONSTITUTION:A host computer 100 is equipped with a link-level protocol controlling part 110 which has a main memory image transfer (ILO) sequence, and an image transfer service part 120 which controls the main memory image of a subordinate computer. When an ILO command is transmitted from the subordinate computer 200, the link-level protocol controlling part 110 sets a link in ILO mode to start the ILO sequence. A main memory image transfer program IPL510 has no high-priority protocol and has only the ILO sequence of a link-level protocol. On a DISK600, the contents of the main memory of the host computer are stored.
