1,104,430. Enveloping sheets. H. P. SHERMAN. 17 May, 1965 [18 May, 1964], No. 20655/65. Heading B8C. [Also in Division B6] An insert C<SP>1</SP> is enclosed within the two folds of a wrapper S<SP>1</SP>, by a system of rollers and shoots arranged so that the wrapper is buckled into the nip of a pair of rollers 24, 54 to form the first fold around an insert fed by rollers 51, 38, and is then buckled again into the nip of rollers 54, 61 to form a second fold. In the embodiment shown, shoots 26, 56 provided with stops 27a, 58 support the leading ends of the wrapper S<SP>1</SP> during the buckling processes. The feed of sheets S<SP>1</SP> and C<SP>1</SP> by driven rollers 24, 51 is controlled through clutches by limit switches 27, 28 in the shoot 26 and limit switch 42 controlled by a rod 39 detecting the presence of a card C<SP>1</SP> above the first folding position. Sheets are fed singly from piles S, C supported on plates 21, 36, by feed mechanisms 22, 22a. |
