PURPOSE:To cast a thin metallic sheet stably and continuously by constituting a continuous casting device of a horizontal mold of a hollow shape in cross section provided with a cooling means on the bottom surface. CONSTITUTION:Beforehand a dummy bar is loaded into a mold 14, and molten carbon steel 12 is poured through a charging port 11. The molten metal 12' poured int the mold begins to solidify from the bottom surface as said metal is deprived of heat by cooling water 18 through heat resistant and abrasion resistant materials 13 and the mold 14. The molten metal solidifies in the form of enclosing the dummy bar thereon. If the dummy bar is pulled by operating pinch rolls 17 in the stage when the poured metal 12' is filled in the mold 14, a solidified ingot 16 is drawn, and a carbon steel plate is obtained stably and continuously. In order to prevent oxidation of the metal 12', gaseous argon is run in a space 20, and in order to reduce the temp. of the ingot 16, compressed air is blown through cooling pipes 15. |
