PURPOSE:To standardize controllers by allowing a device where several kinds of keyboards are connected to receive information on the selection of conversion tables from keyboards without holding it in its controller. CONSTITUTION:In a key matrix, key matrixes 203 and 303 for displaying information characteristic to a keyboard are provided and on the completion of a scan, said information is generated. In response to a scan signal from a controller 11, a return signal is sent back on KB sides 12 and 13 according to the pressed state of a key. The controller 11 detects a key signal by the scan signal and looks up the indexes of a memory 103 to generate a key code. In this invention, information on the kind of a keyboard is added to the return signal by multiplexing. Therefore, the controller side 11 receives said information to select an adequate table in a conversion table group in the memory 103, and looks up its indexes to perform conversion to key codes corresponding to key tops. |
