PURPOSE:To make effective use of materials bound with ''Sialon '' synthesized from Al2O3-SiO2 type natural raw materials, C powder and gaseous N2 and to prolong the life of linings by using said ''Sialon '' for the linings of the titled vessel. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of Al2O3-SiO2 natural raw materials such as clay, agalmatolite or the like and C powder is heated in a gaseous N2 atmosphere to synthesize ''Sialon ''. A vessel for desulfurization of molten iron is lined with the refractories contg. said ''Sialon '' or a sintered body produced by resintering the same or fine powder thereof as a component and consisting of the balance >=1 kind among silica, agalmatolite, zircon, mullite, alumina, oxychromium magnesia, silicon carbide, carbon and graphite. If the ''Sialon '' is used as a part of the matrix and/or aggregate of the refractories, the refractories having excellent corrosion resistance and impact resistance are obtained and the lining of a long life is accomplished. |
