PURPOSE:To obtain a zinc-air cell having an excellent storage performance by using an air electrode manufactured in such a way that carbon powder is immersed in a sulfonated metal phthalocyanine solution and filtered, then heated, and mixed with a water repellent binder. CONSTITUTION:Carbon powder such as active carbon is immersed in a metal phthalocyanine solution having a sulfone group so as to make adsorb 5-50wt% metal phthalocyanine to the carbon powder. The carbon powder is filtered to remove excess water, then heated in the temperature range 150-1,300 deg.C under an inert atmosphere or vacuum. The heat treated powder is mixed with a water repellent binder such as ''Teflon'' powder, and this mixture is formed in a sheet to make an air electrode. By this process, the air electrode having less impurity is obtained. By using this air electrode, a zinc-air cell having increased storage performance and stabilized property is obtained. |
