PURPOSE:To shorten the time of dry operation of a vertical pump, which uses the water to be pumped up as a lubricant for bearings, by supplying the water immediately at the starting time of the pump. CONSTITUTION:When pump is started, part of the water to be pumped up is immediately supplied to the bearing 9 through a lubricant supply pipe 10, so that the time of dry operation is shortened to a large extent. When the pump is at a standstill, the function of a check valve 11 brings about the condition that the lubricating water is stored in the lubricant supply pipe 10, so that supply of the water to the bearing 9 is made immediately when pump operation is resumed. Accordingly, the time of dry operation is suppressed to almost nothing even though the pump is frequently started and stopped to contribute to prevention of a hot damage of bearing 9. |
