PURPOSE:To prevent the short-circuit caused by zinc dendrite and to improve the battery life, by providing a conductive film between a positive electrode and a negative electrode, detecting the change of the voltage between the conductive film and the negative electrode when charging, and thereby controlling the charge. CONSTITUTION:In a battery jar 1, a conductive film 4 is installed between a zinc negative electrode 2 and a positive electrode 5 through a separator 3, and this battery is charged by a charger 6. In this case, zinc dendrite grows on the surface of the zinc negative electrode 2, it grows remarkably, at the last period of charge, to the extent that it breaks the separator 3 and comes into contact with the conductive film 4. The change of voltage between the conductive film 4 and the negative electrode 2 taking place during the process of charge can be detected by a voltage detecting control circuit 7 so as to control the charge. Consequently, the dendrite does not exceed the conductive film 4 and also does not develop a short-circuit caused by contact of the positive electrode with the negative elecdrode, therefore the battery life can be greatly improved. |
