PURPOSE:To absorb and damp a noise made in braking, by impregnating damping lead in the pores of a porous back metal. CONSTITUTION:Iron powder for conventional powder metallurgy is press-formed in a prescribed back plate shape and then sintered. The sintered material is immersed in a lead bath so that lead is impregnated in the pores of the material. A back metal is thus manufactured. A friction material is bonded to the back metal in accordance with a conventional method to provide a disc shoe. |
