<p>An echo reinforcing device is provided to increase the apparent surface of the carrier. The device emits a signal controlled in amplitude and in phase by the echo reinforcer only in the radar reception band, and receives, from this radar spaced pulses of duration, t, with a recurring period of Trn. The control system allows the receiver of the responder to open before the reception of the nth pulse at the instant ton-(t/2), and to close at the time ton+(t/2). The transmitter is open from ton+(t/2) to the time ton+(3t/2). The echo reinforcer is made operational during the same interval as the transmitter. The receiver is then next opened at a time ton+Tr-(t/2). Tr is chosen to equal the shortest period of the received signal. The timing intervals are memorised.</p> |
