Device for the accurate, automatic centring of a workpiece being machined, for example the handlebar or the hub of a bicycle frame, between two tools which are to machine the workpiece simultaneously on both sides, a pneumatic assembly or the like being provided which, at its sides, has adjusting arms which produce the initial contact with the workpiece by means of the approach and setting-down of the entire unit due to the action of a servomotor, in which arrangement the arms can be expanded by means of pistons of the pneumatic assembly, as a result of which the size of the workpiece is ascertained and the centre line is determined for the subsequent setting of the same penetration depth on both sides on the part of the tools which are provided with limit-switch contacts.
