<p>The machine finishes the edges of metal mesh comprising interwoven spiral wires of which outer loops are cut and the ends clinched over the adjoining wire. The edges are step fed through clinching heads of a 'U' shape, and through vertically offset guide plates (14,15). The plates reciprocate vertically and drop to locate two curves on pins (20), the curve (31) being clamped between an anvil (27) and a cradle (21). The anvil acts normally to the fabric plane whilst the cradle is parallel to the fabric and tangential to the spire. Cutting and clinching is by a sliding forked (32) tool (24) with a blade (33), a counter blade (35) and a clinching bevel (38).</p> |
