PURPOSE:To provide an impact dot printer which does not include any ink ribbon, by a method wherein a bundle of a plurality of glass fibers is used as a dot-printing element, an ink is supplied to a part of the element, and dots are printed by causing the element to collide directly against the surface of a paper. CONSTITUTION:The dot-printing element 6 is composed by placing a plurality of glass fibers 8 in the periphery of a core material 7 and covering the fibers 8 by a flexible tube 9. In a guide part 1a of a printing head 1, each of the dot-printing elements 6 is passed through an ink-impregnated material 11, and has a part where the tube 9 is removed so that the glass fibers 8 are exposed. Therefore, the ink penetates into the bundles of the glass fibers 8, penetrates through the gaps of the fibers 8 due to capillary action, and reach the tip parts of the dot- printing elements 6. Accordingly, when the dot-printing element 6 collides against a printing paper 4, a dot is printed. After printing, the ink is re-supplied to the tip of the element 6 due to osmotic pressure, so that the continuous printing can be conducted. |
