PURPOSE:To join firmly a metallic plate and a metallic pipe without performing welding, etc. by inserting a metallic pipe provided with a stepped pipe part and a collar part at an end into a through-hole of a metallic plate and pressing with a punch having inner circumferential diameter slightly larger than the outer circumference of the metallic pipe. CONSTITUTION:A stepped pipe part 1a is provided by flaring at an end of a metallic pipe 1. At the same time, a part of this stepped part 1a is expanded by beading to provide a collar part 1b. Next, the stepped part 1a is inserted into a through-hole 2a pierced on the metallic plate 2 and corresponds to the stepped part 2a so that the slanting face 1c of the collar part comes into close contact with the lower face of 2. Then, a hollow punch 3 having inner circumferential diameter slightly larger than outer circumferential diameter of the pipe 1 is inserted from the tip of the pipe 1. Under this condition, the end face 3b of the punch 3 is placed on the slanting face 1d of the stepped part 1a of the pipe 1, and the outer circumference of the stepped part 1a is expanded to an annular form by pressure applied to the punch 3. Consequently, the plate 1 is fixed between the expanded part 4 and collar part 1b. Further, 5 is a jig having inner circumferential diameter far larger than the outer circumferential diameter of the collar part 1b of the pipe. |
