PURPOSE:To prevent the heat radiation of molten metal and the formation of oxidized films by floating many float members which are light in specific gravity, have buoyancy and have corrosion resistance, heat resistance and heat insulating characteristic on molten metal of Al, Zn, etc. thereby covering the surface of the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:Molten metal 7 of Al, Zn, etc. is contained in the molten metal chamber 6 of a melting furnace 1. Many float members 2 are floated on the surface of the metal 7 to cover the surface of the metal 7. The members 2 are constituted of heat insulating members having specific gravity lighter than that of the molten metal of Al, Zn, etc. and having buoyancy and the surfaces of their bodies 3 are coated with covering materials 4 which have heat resistance and corrosion resistance and prevent sticking of the molten metal. Calcium silicate, alkali glass fibers, etc. are preferable for the bodies 3 and ceramic blank materials, etc. for the materials 4. |
