PURPOSE:To ensure that misprinting on a passbook of a customer is prevented even when a detecting mechanism for a test printing paper is operated erroneously, by a method wherein the second printing section other than the first printing section corresponding to the width of the first printing paper is determined, and printing is limited to the area within the second printing section when a detection signal is generated from the second detecting means. CONSTITUTION:When the passbook 1 is inserted, a sensor Sa detects this condition and generates a signal (a). On the other hand, when the test paper 2 is inserted, a sensor Sb detects this condition and generates a detection signal (b). Printing on the passbook 1 is started at a printing starting position A, and printing on the test paper is started at a position B. In the case of inserting the passbook 1, when the signal (a) from the sensor Sa reaches a detecting part 5, a signal Da is generated, a tabulation signal generating part 6 is started to generate a tabulation signal TA, and a printing head H is set into the printing starting position A located at the left end. |
