The invention relates to an expansion device in the form of an elongated inflatable tube which can be arranged, for example, between two tunnel-lining segments in order to obtain a relative movement of the segments upon inflation of the tube. So that the tube can be folded in its inclination or can be shifted from its position between the adjacent segments, the inner and/or the outer surface of the tube has, according to the invention, a corrugated or ribbed shape, the corrugated or ribbed formations extending over the respective surface in a direction which runs essentially transversely to the longitudinal direction of the tube.
