The prosthesis is affixed by harness (5) on the trunk of the wearer by a support (4) which is unitary with an electric motor reduction gear arrangement. A crown wheel (7) is articulated on the support (4) and comprises truncated teeth (8) on its exterior face, and cylindrical teeth (9) about its periphery. An annular spacer (10) is rotatable between the crown wheel (7) and the support (4) and is also provided with a cylindrical set of teeth (11) on its outer face. The cylindrical teeth (9,11) are engaged to two independent control pinions which are actuated by the motor arrangement, grouping two motors. The upper arm section is hollow and open-ended to receive an eventual stump. The relative dimensions of stump and the arm section are not critical.
