The invention relates to a block centrifugal pump unit with a pump shaft, designed as a hollow shaft and singly supported in the area of the motor, which shaft is coupled by way of a groove-spline connection to the motor shaft projecting into the pump shaft. The abrupt load exerted on the groove-spline connection, particularly when starting such a unit, is overcome according to the invention in that in the gap between the spline and the wall of the groove a spring pressing the spline against the wall of the groove responsible for transmission of the torque is inserted.
