摘要 A dyeing machine includes a pressure tank for dye liquor and material to be dyed, the tank in use being partially filled with dye liquor, means for heating the liquor in the tank when <PICT:0934016/IV(a)/1> the latter is sealed without diluting the dye liquor, whereby the pressure in the tank is increased, and a duct which communicates with the interior of the tank at a level above the bottom thereof, and extends downwardly below said level and has an outlet portion which extends above said level and is open to atmosphere, the duct in operation containing liquid so that when the pressure in the tank exceeds atmospheric pressure, a column of liquid is supported in the outlet portion of the duct. As shown dye beck or tank 10 is made of a lower semi-cylindrical portion 12 and an upper section 14 the latter having a pressure door 34. The fabric material 63 is fed in an endless path and in rope form through the dye liquor by means of an ovate drive reel 64 and an idler 66 the fabric being supported in the dye on a false bottom 58. The reel 64 is driven by shaft 68 which extends through one end wall of the tank and is driven by chain 72 and reduction gear box 76 from a motor 80. Steam coils 92 are mounted in the tank 10 beneath the false bottom 58 and are fed from a steam generator 94 through inlet pipe 96 to heat the dye liquor. To maintain the temperature at a predetermined value a temperature responsive probe 108 is provided and connected to a suitable controller 110 to control the steam flow from the generator 94. The tank 10 is made pressure tight so that as the air above the dye liquor becomes heated the pressure is increased and will prevent the dye liquor from boiling when its temperature increases beyond 212 DEG F. In order that the temperature and the pressure do not exceed a maximum predeter-mined value a U-shaped duct 120 is provided, having one end 122 communicating with the interior of the tank at 124 slightly above the level A of the dye liquor and the other end extending upwardly to a level C above the level B. At C the duct is in communication with two discharge tubes which extend down-wardly beneath the tank and are open to atmos-phere. The duct 120 is filled with a liquid (either water or the dye liquor) and as the pressure above the dye liquor increases above atmospheric pressure the pressure acting on the liquid at ,122 will force the liquid down in duct 120 and upwards towards the level C. When the gauge pressure within the tank reaches the predetermined maximum value the liquid within the duct will flow out through the discharge tubes.
