PURPOSE:To improve the sensitivity and reliability of writing and reading of light information by forming a thin film (silver oxide or metal halide) for optical storage which performs thermal decompositon by absorbing light to vary in reflectivity on a substrate of Si, etc. CONSTITUTION:On a transparent or opaque substrate of, e.g. Si, a thin film of Ag2O or AuCl, etc., for optical storage is formed. Laser convergent light 3 focused on said thin film 2 of Ag2O through a lens 4 to heat the film up to 250 deg.C. The Ag2O film 2 is oxidized by absorbing the laser light 3 to produce O2, and thus performs thermal decomposition to vary in reflectivity. Said O2 and C2 produced by the thermal decomposition scatter immediately in the form of gas and never remains, so the reflectivity varies remarkably, obtaining high sensitivity. |
