A control method and control system for model vehicles, for example model railways run on track systems, enable the simultaneous and reciprocally independent control of a plurality of model vehicles. For this purpose, a binary data stream comprising a multiplicity of data words is transmitted via the rail to individual receivers in the model vehicles, where the data stream serves simultaneously as the operating current for the drive motors and the model vehicle receivers. Each data word transmitted very frequently in succession in a time unit has a channel allocated individually to each model vehicle which comprises two bits only, one of which indicates forward movement and the other backward movement. Each receiver has a bit counter (1) which counts all the bits of each received data word. At the outputs of this counter, the individual bits are available separately in each case for the different channels so that they can be transmitted to a two-bit cycle memory via a combination logic (4) which can be adjusted individually in each case for the respective model vehicle. With the aid of a data checking device (6), each data word is checked at its end for correctness and, if it is identified as correct, the information temporarily stored in the two-bit cycle memory (2) is forwarded to a two-bit transfer memory which then stores this information until a new received data word has been identified as correct. The correctness of each data word is therefore checked immediately upon receipt and the information allocated individually to each receiver is forwarded to control the drive motor only if correctness has been identified. Since the addressing of the individual receivers is carried out solely by counting the bits of each data word, no special address component is required in the data word, since each bit of the data word is used to represent a control command and also to indicate the respective address. <IMAGE>
