The invention relates to a motor vehicle with four-wheel drive, in which the wheels of one axle are constantly driven by a drive source by way of a gearbox and a differential and the wheels of the second axle are automatically connected by way of a multi-plate clutch at a differential speed to the first axle, the outer plate carrier of the clutch being constantly driven and the inner plate carrier being connected to the axle which is not constantly driven. The multi-plate clutch is connected by simple and structurally advantageous means as a differential between the wheels of the second axle in that the outer plate carrier is the differential case of the differential and two inner plate carriers, rotatable independently of one another, are connected to the wheels. The multi-plate clutch is preferably a plate slip clutch interacting with fluid which in the event of a speed differential between the plates transmits torque by shearing action.
