The device for internally circulating waste water (effluent) sludge in closed sewage plant digestion chambers has a feed housing (13) which is removably inserted in the gas hood (5) or a separate dome of the digestion container (1) and which has a built-in, separately removable feed unit (14) for the sludge and a feed pipe (15) flexibly attached to the feed housing (13). The feed pipe (15) is arranged in the lower part of the container so as to be freely suspended and coaxial with the vertical longitudinal axis (16-16) of the digestion container (1). The feed pipe (15) is assembled from a plurality of pipes (19) which are joined together by pipe flanges (20, 21), and the pipes (19) are braced against each other via the pipe flanges (20, 21) by means of tension rods (25).
