The seal is intended for use between stationary flanges. It has a rubber or plastics ring, to which a metal one is joined which has a larger external dia. and fits detachably in an external annular groove by its inner portion. Portions of the rubber ring protrude above the outer part of the metal ring, which acts as sealing pressure limiter. - The flanges (9a,9b) on the rubber ring protrude above this part for their entire radial width, the latter being between 2/3 and 3/4 of the width (11) of the rubber ring (7). The thickness (13) of the latter is equal to approximately half the depth (10) of the annular groove (9). On the inside of the rubber ring are formed U-shaped sealing lips (8).PS(2/3)
