A semi-continuous rolling mill, suitable for rolling bars and I- beams, includes a roughing stand 3 provided with roller tables 2 and 4, intermediate stands 10 and 11, universal stands 12 and 24, an edging stand 13, and a finishing train 20-23, the roller tables 5- 7 and 15-17 for the stands being interconnected by transfer skids 8 and 9. For rolling I-beams, the finishing stands 20-23 are moved outside the final rolling line. When sections not requiring universal stands are to be rolled, the stands 12, 13, and 24 are replaced by 2-high stands. A furnace 1 supplies billets to the table 2, while a cooling bed 14 receives the rolled products. |
