An ignition coil, especially for internal-combustion engines of motor vehicles, having a primary coil which can be connected via at least two connecting terminals to a low voltage DC source, and having a secondary winding, to whose at least one connecting terminal a high voltage is applied when the primary current supply is interrupted, the primary and secondary winding in this case being arranged coaxially around a magnetic bar whose end regions are connected to one another via a magnetic path located outside the two windings, the secondary winding furthermore surrounding the primary winding and being accommodated in a housing in the form of an annular housing which is filled with a resin which embeds the winding and the at least one connecting terminal, the base of the housing in this case supporting the at least one secondary connecting terminal which is arranged on the upper end region of the ignition coil, the primary winding being supported by a tubular coil core which is inserted into the central zone that is bounded by the annular housing of the secondary winding and whose upper end region supports a plate on which the primary connecting terminals are mounted, and the base of the annular housing forming a lower stop for a part of the connecting terminals of the connecting terminals of the primary winding which pass through this plate.
