Crosslinking resols free of harmful substances and based on phenols and formaldehyde, characterised in that the formaldehyde is at least partly replaced by an incorporated mono- and/or disaccharide, process for the preparation thereof and use of the resols prepared in this way for producing coatings and/or impregnations.
