A tension-measuring roller (4) which bears against the material and round which the material is looped has an operative connection to the winding-beam drive device (5). The operative connection possesses a correcting device (6) which compensates the differing looping of the material (1) round the tension-measuring roller (4) during the course of the winding operation. The correcting device (6) possesses a setting device (42) for the correction factor.
