A device for unwinding rolls and for the overlapped uniform web connection, particularly suitable for connection to paper-processing machines, in which the web is cut into sheets and an imbricated sheet path is subsequently formed, the imbrication operation not being influenced by the web connection. During the pasting operation, the expiring roll (26) is decelerated and the web of the decelerated roll (26) is pressed by means of the pressing-on beam (32) against the beginning of the web lying on the retaining device (38). In this case, this web is placed around the pressing-on beam (32) and cut by the knife (33) directly adjacent to the two-sided adhesive connecting strip. During this operation, the web required for the operation is removed from the magazine (51). The supply roll (25) is received without axles by two bearing arms (23+24). These bearing arms are mounted on the cross-beams (20+21) so as to be laterally adjustable in such a way that the supply roll (25) projects a long way in between the cross-beams (20, 21). As a result, the device can be kept small and, in spite of this, rolls with a large diameter can be processed. <IMAGE>
