PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compound useful as a raw material of diphenylamine compound, economically in an industrial scale, by reacting an acylamino derivative with a halide in the presence of an acid acceptor, a copper catalyst, and a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound. CONSTITUTION:An acylamino derivative of formulaI(R1 is methyl or ethyl; R2 and R3 are H or methyl) is made to react with a halide of formula II (X is Cl or Br; R4 is methyl, ethyl, etc.; m and n are 0-2), by heating at 150-250 deg.C for 10-40hr in the presence of an acid acceptor, a copper catalyst, and a nitrogen- containing heterocyclic compound (e.g. pyridine) to obtain the N-acyl.diphenylamine compound of formula III. EFFECT:The reaction proceeds in a short time in high yield by the presence of the nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound. Expensive raw material is not necessary in the reaction. |
