PURPOSE:To ensure prevention of short-circuit, and to obtain a low-cost ion selecting electrode wire not requiring adjustment operation in each measurement, by coating a conductive wire asymmetrically in an ion selecting layer, and a coated conductive wire asymmetrically in the ion selecting layer. CONSTITUTION:A part of a conductor wire 11 made of a conductive metal, e.g. silver is disclosed in an area serviceable as an electrically connecting terminal, and a layer 12 of a water-insoluble metallic salt, e.g., silver chloride to silver, is coated symmetrically with respect to the axis of the wire. The upper circumference and the end part of the layer 12 are further asymmetrically coated with an ion selecting layer 14, and the conductive metal is used in the form of a wire, a rod, a flat plate, or a laminate of different kinds of metals or a laminate of them and a plastic material. The metallic oxide is used in the same form as that of the metal, or in the form of a wire coated with a thin film of glass, ceramic, polymer, paper, or the like support. |
