New helical packing seals are made as seal part with dia. different from original ring. Thermosetting plastics are heated and then changed to be plastic gum. Partly hardened packing seal is set around cylindrical shaft with known dia. After oven-heating the seal, it is set completely and become elastic enough to seal the moving part efficiently. Hardened elastomer (polyurethane) has high resistance against abrasion and humidity, so it shows excellent sealing. Urethane elastomer is prepd. by blending liquid resin and catalyst pellets (4,4-methylene-bis(2-chloroaniline)).
