In a device for laying out flat material, which device has a laying carriage (4) which supports a supply (1) of flat material and can be moved back and forth over a laying surface (3) receiving the laid-out webs (2) of flat material, the intention is to avoid the laid-out webs of flat material having creases, for which reason at least one air-blowing apparatus (6) is arranged on the laying carriage (4), which air-blowing apparatus acts from above on the respective topmost laid-out web (5) of flat material essentially transversely to the travelling direction of the laying carriage and which is situated - seen during the laying-out movement of the laying carriage in terms of the travelling direction (A) - with spacing after the web (7) of flat material hanging down from the laying carriage. <IMAGE>
