To continuously indicate the current efficiency in electrochemical processes, a test specimen (5) of known surface area on which the layer thickness is measured is placed in the bath liquid (2). The integrated specimen current yields a theoretical value of the layer thickness if allowance is made for the equivalence mass and density of the layer material.
