The invention relates to a process which allows an increase in the maximum density obtainable for a ceramic nuclear fuel based on UO2, PuO2, ThO2 and mixtures thereof, to which silicates have been added. This process comprises, before mixing with the said oxides, melting the additives in air and then grinding the mass thus obtained and mixing it with the finely ground powders of these oxides. Subsequently, the mixtures obtained are cold-pressed and the resulting pellets are sintered. |
