PURPOSE:To form a bevel edge having high accuracy on the end surface of a flange by installing a position detector when edge preparation is performed on the end surface of the flanges on both sides of an H-shaped steel. CONSTITUTION:Each edge preparating cutter 39 is supported on two transfer bases 23 and 24 which are freely movable in the direction perpendicular to holding surfaces 9 and 10, respectively and each position detector 56, 57 is installed between a part of the transfer base and a part of the inner contact members 14-17 on the side corresponding to the part of the transfer base described the above. The locus of transfer of the edge preparating cutter 39 is set by said apparatuses 56 and 57, on the basis of the contact part of each corresponding inner contact member to the inner surface of a flange. Therefore, even if a strain exists on the edge surface of the flange, edge preparation can be achieved with high accuracy. |
