PURPOSE:To maintain the stable feeding performance of a paper sheet feeding device during a long time, by providing such an arrangement that a feed roller is made into contact with a polishing cloth on a friction detecting roller when the friction coefficient of the outer surface of the feed roller is decreased. CONSTITUTION:A feed roller 4 rotates in the direction B when banknotes are fed. In this stage, a friction detecting roller 8 rotates in the direction C owing to friction force between the detecting roller 8 and the feed roller 4, overcoming a spring 12. Therefore, the feed roller 4 is normally in contact with the metal surface of the friction detecting roller 8. However, the spring force of the spring 12 overcomes the friction force when the friction coefficient of the outer surface of the feed roller 4 is decreased due to ink and dust stuck thereto, so that the friction detecting roller 8 slightly rotates in the direction A, and therefore, a polishing cloth 11 applied on the surface thereof makes into contact with the feed roller 4. Accordingly, the outer surface of the feed roller 4 is polished, thereby the friction coefficient is increased. |
