PURPOSE:To simplify and miniaturize a printing mechanism by retracting a platen part according to the variations in the thickness of a printing medium in a printer for printing a handbook, etc. CONSTITUTION:A spring 3 is attached to a limiter 2 having bent portions on its both sides and a shaft 4 attached with a lever 5, and both ends of the spring 3 are attached to the limiter 2 so as to generate a given elasticity P. A cam 6 is contactually provided at the tip of the lever 5 through a roller 5a and a platen 1 is moved up and down, as shown in Fig. When the thin portion of the handbook 10 is set for printing, the handbook 10 is pushed up by the platen 1. When the thick portion is set for printing, a printing head 8 pushes down the platen 1 against an elasticity P from the upside of the handbook 10 on the platen 1 by a printing guide. |
