PURPOSE:To reduce fuel consumption of an engine, by locking a control cylinder to check the action of a servo valve due to the rotation of an input member, further transmitting said rotation directly to a worm shaft, when the steering power is not required. CONSTITUTION:A worm shaft 8 is connected to a stub shaft 29, operated as the input member, through a torsion bar T. Finger pins 30 and 30' are provided to said shaft 29, and a servo valve 10 is driven by the rotation of the shaft 29 through the pin 30. While the pin 30' is closely contacted to pistons 23, 24 of a control cylinder 20. Chambers 31, 32 are provided laterally of the pistons 23, 24 of the control cylinder 20, and the chambers 31, 32 are connected to a discharge hole 7 through oil passages 33, 34. Then the chambers 31, 32 and the discharge hole 7 are communicated or shut off by a solenoid valve provided between the oil passages 33, 34 and the discharge hole 7. This solenoid valve is actuated by each signal on the basis of a running condition to disconnect the chambers 31, 32 from the discharge hole 7 and lock the control cylinder 20. |
