This invention consists of a method and a device for creating a power-transmitting expansion joint. The method consists of the power-transmitting device 8 being put in an expansion joint 1 in parallel with the primary direction of the dynamic forces, e.g., vibration forces, impact forces, which act on at least one of the building units 3, 10 between which the expansion joint is installed. The power- transmitting device includes one power-transmitting unit which in turn includes a lengthwise-changeable device 11, 14 and two power-transmitting devices 17, 18, 20; 22, 23 one in each end of said unit.
