PURPOSE:To accelerate the collapsing property of shell molds markedly in coated sand wherein sand grains for casting are coated with a phenolic resin by allowing an org. chlorine compd. of a specific loss of weight on heating to exist. CONSTITUTION:In coated sand wherein sand grains for molding are coated with a phenolic resin contg. a lubricant, >=1 kind org. chlorine compds. having 130- 550 deg.C temp. at which the loss of weight on heating exhibits 20%. The org. chlorine compds. are cyclic org. compds. and are dodeca chlorododeca hydrodimethanodibenzocyclooctene.
