The gas burner intended for a domestic cooking appliance comprises a mixing tube (5-7), a gas supply tube (1) to feed gas into the mixing tube via an element (2) with gas outlets (3), a cup-shaped member (8) adjacent to the mixing tube outlet, and a cover (10). The mixing tube length is short in the flow direction and connects directly with the supply tube. The burner may have a number of parallel mixing tubes whose length takes up about half the total height of the burner. The entry to each mixing tube is preferably arranged directly above the corresponding outlet (3).
