The add-on railing member (1) is intended for a sail board (3) or the like. It consists of a railing strip which forms an enclosure around front, rear and sides and has straps (2) to secure it on the deck of the sail board. The strip may have a flat or contoured deck portion (5) and may have water drain openings (4). It may have support faces for a seat or the like, fixtures for a tarpaulin, hand grips, and/or a rubber sealing strip along its lower edge.
