<p>The machine applies a strip of material e.g. label round the periphery of a cylindrical cheese, having a transport trough for the items (2). One trough wall is formed by a conveyor belt driven continuously (6,19), and the other by a stationary wall (5) spring-loaded towards the belt, the intervening distance being roughly equal to the item diameter. The strip (27) is fed from a storage roll (26) to the upstream end of the belt by a drive mechanism operating intermittently, and controlled by a detector for the presence of a cheese in the trough.</p> |
