PURPOSE:To improve the dimensional accuracy of precision castings and to make casting surfaces neat by coating specific metals and their alloys on the inside surfaces of molds for precision casting. CONSTITUTION:Metals such as Fe, Ni and Cu and their alloys are coated on the inside surfaces of molds for precision casting consisting essentially of refractories such as alumina, zircon, silica and gypsum. When molten metal is poured into such molds, the wettability of the molten metal with the molds is markedly improved, and packing of the molten metal into the detailed parts is made possible with molds of low temp. as well. Thus, the dimensional accuracy of castings is improved and casting surfaces are made neat. |
