PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording body with superior electromagnetic converting characteristics, running durability, etc. by using a specified methacrylic ester copolymer as a binder for ferromagnetic fine powder for a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:A methacrylic ester copolymer represented by the general formula is used as a binder for ferromagnetic powder forming a magnetic layer. The copolymer contains >=1mol% monomer component having a hydroxyl group or a carboxyl group in one molecule, and it has about 40- about 100 deg.C glass transition point. In the formula each of X-Z is H or methyl, R1 is 1-22 C univalent hydrocarbon group, R2 is 2-22 C bivalent hydrocarbon group or polyethylene glycol polymer residue, and the sum total of l-n is about 200- about 20,000. |
